Laura’s Race for Life
Yes, it’s true, I’m doing the race for life on 10th June, 5k from Bournemouth pier to Boscombe pier and back again.
I’m not alone though, as I’m doing it with my mum, and housemate Georgia. My mum’s already done 14 half marathons because she’s a bit crazy like that, so this will be a piece of cake for her.
Georgia and I, on the other hand, are currently struggling to run for 20 minutes without stopping so this will be fun! That won’t stop me though, I think with regular runs I’ll be able to do 5k easy by June (I HOPE!)
Training wise, I’m squeezing in morning or evening runs along the beach after work, as we’re in such a beautiful location at Hengistbury Head, it’s ideal! Or around Westcliff where I live. I am also cycling to work now the weather is better so it’s all helping towards being ready for the big day
.
I did run the Race for Life two years ago and completed it in 34 mins, so I’m really hoping to beat that time.”
We do have a donation page
I’m doing it just to generally raise money for cancer research as all of our families has been affected in some way. In terms of fitness, it’s also a great goal to have to work towards running wise!
I’d really love to do a 10k next year – so watch this space.
